Granted, it’s not like they’re shutting down GTA Online completely on those platforms, but with no new updates and probably less attention for bug or exploit fixes, it could descend into the wild west pretty fast, or conversely become dull with a lack of new content. That means culling all 360 and PS3 players from future GTA Online updates is a pretty big deal. I don’t know the exact split between the number of GTA Online players on new-gen and the number on last-gen, but I have to believe it’s a much larger ratio than other cross-gen titles, given how the game was released. Rather, you’d have to simply buy the game twice if you wanted to start playing on a new console, which isn’t exactly the most attractive prospect.
It’s a weird situation, because it’s not like there was a free upgrade to get players the new version of the game.
